MY FIRST EVER GLOVE RELEASED

Hello, my name is Matthew, however, all who know me, call me Quicky. I started this website to share my passion of goalkeeping, with everyone in the wider world who can benefit from my experience and expertise. I first fell in love with goalkeeping when I was introduced to my first true experience of football at the age of 10, being coached by a goalkeeper named Jon Sheffield.

The way Jon explained and guided me through the goalkeeping position resonated with me. I fell inlove with the position, and I knew this is what I wanted. Everything clicked! This sparked the first flame of my goalkeeping journey, and my experience of the coaching industry. Fast forward to the age of 16, I had the opportunity to join Plymouth Argyle Football Club on an educational scholarship. I would learn the trade of coaching, whilst playing football and Futsal against the likes of: Exeter, Swindon, Bournemouth, Barcelona and Chelsea. Furthermore, I had the honour of wearing my countries colours in Futsal.

However, though I experienced playing success, I fell deeper in love with coaching, where I was trusted to be involved with the Plymouth Argyle's Long-Term-Player-Development Centres, advanced centres and Academy goalkeepers. Once my scholarship came to an end, it was time to think about my future outside of playing football. Naturally, I chose to pursue my love for coaching. I studied Football Coaching and Development at Marjon University, I loved the experience and gained a 2:1 (would of been a 1st if I wasn’t playing football when I should of been at one of my exams!).

Once this was over, I could not wait to start work as a goalkeeper coach, my first full-time role was an opportunity to work in Qatar where I could play football, coach in elite academies and coach in schools (even sometimes in the classroom!) I also had the opportunity to coach at a football team vying for professional status, I was trusted to coach the goalkeepers, where one goalkeeper saved the penalty in the final game of the season for us to achieve professional status in the Qatar Stars League 2. Even though this experience was phenomenal, I really enjoyed the school aspect of helping out in the classroom. I knew I wanted to explore this further, and understand classroom education, learning and teaching in schools.

So, when the opportunity arose, I left Qatar on a Monday, flew home, and on the same day, I started studying my PGCE at Plymouth University. I later achieved a distinction, then shortly after, I returned to Marjon University for my masters in education where I also received a distinction. Throughout those two years, I excelled in, Connectivism, Constructivism and Humanistic learning theories, where I currently meld that unique learning experience in my goalkeeper coaching today. Notably, I wrote a masters thesis on a different approach to goalkeeper training, incorporating these learning theories, which achieved a distinction (Or for us older guys, A*).

As much as I enjoy the art of coaching goalkeepers, I felt a deep calling to extend my support for these talented players. That's why I naturally gravitated towards the idea of launching my own goalkeeper brand. This was partly due to my disappointment when fellow goalkeepers sought my advice on glove recommendations, only to find what the leading brands had available couldn't quite measure up to the demands of the local goalkeeper community.

My aspiration was clear: I aimed to craft a glove that not only stood its ground but actually exceeded the needs of our goalkeepers in crucial aspects such as comfort, grip, aesthetics, and durability. Through numerous trial phases and engaging conversations with those who truly understand the game, I meticulously developed what we now know as the Quick Goalkeeper glove.

Since its inception in 2022, I've had the privilege of equipping 250 goalkeepers with gloves that truly live up to their expectations. These gloves are built to endure the challenges of the game without breaking the bank. It's been an incredible journey, and I'm proud to say that our Quick Goalkeeper gloves have become synonymous with top-notch quality and reliability.

All of these experiences have led me to the present day, where I have launched my own goalkeeper coaching business and Glove Brand to support goalkeeping excellence in everybody. This is where the next chapter starts, now that you know more about me and who I am, you can call me Quicky yourself!
